E3 2001 First ImpressionShrek

The movie Shrek hits theaters today, and TDK Mediactive showed us the video game version. Details inside.

TDK Mediactive is showing a quick preview of Shrek for the Xbox here at E3. The game picks up directly where the movie leaves off, after Shrek has proven himself to the kingdom. Consequently, he's bombarded with everyone's problems when all he really wants to do is go back to his swamp, so he's none too happy. You'll be helping Shrek get through this public relations nightmare with all manner of manhandling and bodily functions.

Shrek is probably most notable because it will be one of the Xbox's early titles, coming out sometime between the system's November 8 launch date and Christmas. The game is still very early and is running on pre-final Xbox hardware, but it already looks very impressive thanks to the per-pixel lighting model it's using. Not a whole lot has been shown about Shrek so far, but it should provide amusement for kids and adults alike when it comes out in the fall.
