E3 06: Ridge Racer 7 First Look

LOS ANGELES--It wouldn't be a system launch if there wasn't a Ridge Racer game, and fortunately for Sony, Namco Bandai will have Ridge Racer 7 lined up when the PlayStation 3 finally hits stores. The game made an appearance at tonight's Sony E3 2006 press conference, although its appearance was terribly brief.

The trailer opened with a shot of Ridge Racer girl Reiko Nakagase standing against a white background. The camera quickly zoomed in on her eye, and once in the iris, it zoomed in on a big menu screen that showed a world map, car selection, and assorted other screens. After that, the tagline, "You Are Connected" appeared.

Following that, we started racing. A couple of cars zoomed around a city-based racetrack, drifting like crazy for a few seconds, and then, well, that was pretty much it. Not much substantial content, but just enough to let you know that, yup, it sure is a Ridge Racer game.
