E3 06: PS3 controller motion sensitive

Sony ripped off Nintendo, and they dropped the ball big on it as well.

Nintendo sucks since the Gamecube and Sony rules so what if they copy one idea overall the PS3 is going to be better no matter what they do or don't put in to the system. I mean I'm still gonna buy it.

let's recap our choices. buy a sony ps3, for 600 dollars. sony has good graphics. microsoft has good graphics. xbox 360 is 400 dollars. hmm... well, 360 owns it game library-wise too. and the xbox live arcade was a brilliant addition to the online aspect of it. and the interaction with windows vista for online gaming is genius. microsoft has sony, and they know it. and did anyone ele notice this but me. you can buy a 360, and a Wii, for less money than one ps3.

Sony does it again. Another rip-off of Nintendo technology. First they steal the rumble pack and call it "DualShock" (DualS**t more like), then they steal the analog controller and since they dont know what to do without they decide to put two ("hey why not? two is better than one right? maybe somone can figure what to do with the two.. (Idi**s)), then they rip-off the Wii's motion sensitive controller. What will SONY rip off next? (you know, kinda sounds like Microsoft's motto... Where do you want to go today? except for Sony its Who do you want to rip-off next?)

motots250, your saying that the job of companies is to copy, and take whatever a rival is doing. Hmmmm yeah your right so I would like to see a whole bunch of rival companies taking a test in the same room since its part of their job to copy and take ideas from other people.

Its usual thing with sony their pathetic, first in the early 90s nintendo wanted to realease a system with CD games then sony came out with the PS ONE which could play CDs before nintendo, COPY, so nintendo came out with the cartridges for the 64. Now this, copying the sensors HAHAHAHAHA wow such losers.

im sick of people not looking past the thing that just maybe the way things are is a sign of the times. im almost positve that if PS3 and Wii come out with a controler like that. 360 will not be far behind... WHAT WILL U SAY ABOUT THAT! nothing, thats right, thats the way companes do there job. they all use ideas from ther rivels to help make there product better. they all do it so its an undertanding. so quit complaining about some old nerd at nintendo was the only one to think of this idea. just maybe nintendo was able to get the jump on sony and tell the world about ther controler fist. but sony keeped a straght face and released it any way....

I think there's no big deal with that PS3's controller.Motion sensitives controllers like this one are nothing new.They exist for PC since a long time and are a really poor improvement for the gameplay.It has nothing to do with what nintendo's trying to do with the wii controller,which is really innovative(and a lot more perilous).I think Sony's just trying to confuse the customers who are interested in wii's features,letting them believe that PS3 will do the same things,wich is totally false.

actually if you think about it Sony is Worse when it comes to reusing content... ive looked at a lot of the upcoming Ps3 A VERY large number of them are sequals to games used at the very least on the Ps2... its not FF they are talking about... FF is always different but all these other re uses of games... And whether or not they were working on a sensor is not at issue, or whether the sensor is the same its simply the fact that, nintendo releases their ideas for a sensor controller that looks very inovative and then ps3 which Originally did not have plans to include a sensor all the sudden decide they want to include one... and having a Black button in the middle with PS3's LOGO that takes you to menus and stuff... I WONDER WHAT THAT REMINDS ME OF... and as far as their new live ideas, JUST CANT SEE ANYTHING THATS ALREADY DONE THAT... hmm have a place to get downloads and stuff sounds like some kind of MARKETPLACE, or to download demos and music, trailers, NOPE DOEST REMIND ME OF ANYTHING... it just anoys me i expected better from a company like sony... its no wonder why many games that were PS only, are having sequels that will be on the 360 as well... they are loosing that edge... I like Ps2 and 3, this turn of events frustrates me to no end...

A game company has stolen another idea from Nintendo I would have been surprised but it has been happening since Nintendo 's beginnings. I am so disgusted by this news that it physically sickens me. Maybe Sony would be the best if they used some originality in its concepts. I'm so irritated, I'm ranting............

wuts with all the Wii fans complaining about the PS3? i dont recall u guys jumping in line when the Wii controler first came out. and about Nintendo being the only one coming up with new ideas!!! LOOK AT THE GAMES THEY COME UP WITH! The same titels and the same characters over and over. Only new game play, or new missions. And didnt they just bring back the ZAPPER? how is that originality??? P.S. i bet ill get people complaning about final fantasy. the names the same, but the story, battle system and characters are very different.

I dont think its a big deal. every system thats comes out ,from the begining of time, has had things that they share with its rivels. And the gameing age is changing wether we want it to or not. so when they find a way to do something new and flashy there gona do it. everyone hates change but i think its due...

well it sure aint a wii killer, with the nunchaku you have complete freedome with you hand, you can swing, how the hell do you swing with this thing, it dosent fit your grip to swing, its just a good feature in the joystick but it sure aint a nunchaku. Im just glad i can have a decent controller to my ps3. Ofc i will have a Wii also.Although games not all about graphics im sure the ps3 can crank out some beutiful things that the Wii cant, so i have to hav e em both, just glad i now wont sit and say, ohhh if only sony had a motion sens controller. I mean you still have to have 2 hands on it at all times, it sure wont feel as free as the nunchaku, so no bigge for the big N.

OMG! What copycats! Sony is losing its originality... I probably won't be buying the PS3 anyway though, because it's 600 DOLLARS!!!

All i can say is: Good Job nintendo. They really did an incredible job of seeming like the good guys. It's a really good thing that Sony will win in the end. don't get me wrong, Sony aren't the good guys either, niether is MS, or any other company. Nintendo definatelly isn't the first one with the motion sensative idea. Did anyone consider that Nintendo announced their controller early because they knew or suspected that Sony had similar plans? Did anyone bashing Sony read how the controller will work? Did anyone consider that to have this functional in a game demo that it would have had to have been indevelopment since before Nintendo made their announcement. Sony even said 2 years ago that they were working on technology that allowed for depth perception (when refering to the eyetoy(a successful inovation that MS is now getting ready to copy)). So that makes the one not copycat of this generation Nintendo, accept for 1 problem: Nintendo got crushed the last 2 generations, and while they have a good first party line-up that you're all excited about, those games will be their only signifact source of income in this coming generation. With the exception of a few third party titles like Red Steal. Nntendo's all set to lose, and the fact that no one realises that their whole new console is a Gimick (something that i thought Nintendo would be better then) won't help things down the road. Now let's look at Sony's version of the controller. 6-degrees of freedom with no sensory. So basically, all it recognises is tilting. that means that i can recline with the controller on my lap and still play like that without having any disadvantage. Not to mentiuon that only a select few games will support this. The whole console isn't a gimmick and developers can easily port games from the 360. Sony can support flying games and a good camera system for third person games without sacrificing any other games. Nintendo, on the otherhand, has a controller that's requires you to pretty much requires you to point at the TV the whole time you play, something i can guarentee will be tiring on your arm. It won't be nearly as practical, and in trying to gain acceptance to all age groups they'll lose the one age group that makes them any profit. They're also sacrificing many genres, like RPG (how do you manage menus?) Racing , and some sports, it also makes it very hard to port games, to the point where it's impossible. For once can people try and be a little objective?

Ah, yes... The sweet smell of innovation... Hey! Hey! Hey, you squirrel! Stop eating that innovation pie!!! That is how I describe the way Sony stole Nintendo's controler idea shamelessly. I also remember when the N64 was released, and Sony soon made the Dualshock.

People, there IS NO WAY that Sony only started this when Nintendo announced it. look at the timeline. THEY HAD A PLAYABLE GAME! That type of functionality has to be in mind when production starts, and Warhawk has been in development for more than a year. And Nintendo's still a business whether you realise it or not. they both could've started motion development and it's very possible that nintendo knew and annouced first to make it look like this.

What nobory's realising is that ONLY A FEW GAMES WILL SUPPORT IT. it's not a gimmick for the whole console, third party developers can skip it over, something they can't do for nintendo. And 6 degrees IMO is better, since we still control normally, but get a little extra control, possibly for camera or something.

Personally, I think it's a great idea. It fits more with my style of playing (reclining with the controller on my lap) wich i can't really do with the WII controller. Also, my arm will get less tired since i won't beholding it up all the time. and, lastly, unlike Nintendo the whole console isn't a gimick, so we can still play normal games without that functionality and possibly turn it off in games that use it.

Must...Buy a ps3...
