It's a free weekend to die for.

Comments

Dying Light just celebrated its fifth anniversary, and while Dying Light 2 is currently delayed with no release date, players can try the original game out for free on Steam this weekend. If you like what you play, you'll even be able to snag the game for good at a drastically reduced price.

Now Playing: Dying Light Video Review

From now until February 23 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET, you can play Dying Light with up to three other players, exploring the open-world environment and its parkour-infused gameplay. Dying Light mixes the traversal of something like Mirror's Edge with the first-person zombie-killing action of Techland's previous game, Dead Island, and Kevin VanOrd was fairly pleased with the combination in GameSpot's Dying Light review.

During this period, the standard Dying Light game on Steam is discounted by 60%, while the Enhanced Edition is discounted by 67%. A new Story Mode difficulty level has been added to make the game easier for newcomers, and special events from the game's past will return over the next month to celebrate its anniversary.

Originally scheduled to launch in Spring 2020, Dying Light 2 was later delayed indefinitely in order to give Techland more development time. The sequel puts a greater emphasis on a dynamic world and factions, and Obsidian Entertainment veteran Chris Avellone is serving as narrative designer. When it does release, it will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
