DSi bundled in metallic blue, white for holidays

Nintendo has made a tradition of cashing in on the post-Thanksgiving holiday shopping rush by releasing bundles for the DS in limited-run colors coupled with popular software, such as New Super Mario Bros. or Nintendogs. And while Nintendo will again be stocking retailers with a holiday bundle featuring festive colors, the publisher will this year be playing to the strength of its multifunctional DSi by preloading a batch of free software.

Beginning November 27, gamers can pick up a bundle featuring the third iteration of Nintendo's best-selling handheld in either metallic blue or white for its standard retail price of $169.99. As an added bonus, the holiday bundles will also include a batch of non-transferable software valued at more than $20, were it purchased through Nintendo's DSi Shop.

The metallic blue bundle includes five DSiWare titles that feature Nintendo's iconic paunchy plumber, Mario. Software to be preloaded on the system includes Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again, Dr. Mario Express, WarioWare: Snapped!, Mario Calculator, and Mario Clock.

Nintendo's white bundle has more of an intelligentsia bent. Titles to be included in the soon-to-be-available bundle are Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Sudoku, Brain Age Express: Math, Clubhouse Games Express: Card Classics, and Photo Clock.

Though available only in limited quantities, metallic blue and white are the two latest additions to the DSi's expanding rainbow of colors. It was first available in the US in light blue and black, and then Nintendo released a white-and-pink version of the camera-equipped portable in September. In Japan, the system has also been released in red, green, and metallic blue color schemes.
