Nintendo Australia is no stranger to touring the nation to tout its wares, having trekked across Australia twice last year to promote the DS and the Wii. The company has now announced its first national event for 2007, with the Nintendo DS Connection Tour '07 set to kick off on June 30.

The tour, which begins in Melbourne's Westfield Fountain Gate shopping centre on June 30, comes shortly after the local release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl on June 21. The Connection Tour will feature battle challenges for Pokémon Diamond and Pearl owners, as well as allow them to trade captured critters using the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.

Other activities planned for the tour include interactive stations featuring DS titles, Pokémon Trading Card Game play areas, Pokémon trivia games and Touch! Generations demos.

The Connection Tour will hit shopping centres in Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, New South Wales, and Western Australia between June 30 and July 21. Full dates and locations can be found on Nintendo Australia's official Web site.
