At E3 Sega announced a US$50 rebate offer for the Dreamcast, which effectively lowers the price of the console to an enticing US$149.99. Purchasers of a new Dreamcast system will receive a username and password. They can then take that information online using the Dreamcast, and register at Sega's web site. As an added bonus they will also receive a free 30-day subscription to the SegaNet ISP service by calling 1.800.688.8460. At the end of the 30 days, the service is automatically terminated unless the purchaser initiates a full membership to SegaNet. During that time however, gamers can experience the SegaNet service for themselves, without obligation.

The promotion takes effect this Sunday, June 4 and will run through August 31, 2000.
