Dragon's Dogma global shipments top 1 million
Capcom reveals plans to develop its original fantasy role-playing game into a major franchise.
Worldwide shipments of Dragon's Dogma for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 have crossed the 1 million mark, Capcom announced today.
According to Capcom, Dragon's Dogma is the publisher's 55th title to top the 1 million shipping mark. Based on the game's first-week sales of 300,000 units for the PlayStation 3 version, released on May 21, the company is planning on developing the brand into a major franchise. The Xbox 360 version sold 29,024 during its debut week, as well. The game was the highest-selling title in Japan in the month of May, even with just a week's worth of sales.
Dragon's Dogma generated positive reviews. The RPG was praised for its combat and boss fights, but was criticized for its backtracking elements and quest events. For more information, check out GameSpot's video review below.
