Dragon's Dogma will expand in 2013. Capcom today announced the Dark Arisen downloadable content for May's well-received multiplatform role-playing game. The content is due out next year and is described as a "full-blown major expansion."

For now, concrete details on Dark Arisen are light, but Capcom did share a teaser trailer for the DLC (below). It spans 45 seconds and teases that "An epitaph speaks of another's demise" before fading to black.

Though gamers will need to wait until 2013 for the first major expansion for Dragon's Dogma, two free updates due for release later this year. The first of those is Speedrun mode, which tasks players with moving through the game as quickly as possible, with in-game equipment up for grabs provided certain time objectives are met.

The second free update for Dragon's Dogma is Hard mode. As its name suggests, the mode makes enemies more difficult to vanquish, and also offers up unspecified equipment rewards for players who embark on the challenge.

Capcom did not say exactly when the Speedrun and Hard modes will arrive later this year. For more on Dragon's Dogma, check out GameSpot's review.
