Codemasters has announced that its upcoming online role-playing game, Dragon Empires, will be released in the third quarter of 2002. The game is being developed by Codemasters' studios in the US and the UK, with the US studio handling most of the server programming and visual aspects of the game and the UK team working on client programming and world building. The company is still accepting applications to participate in the game's upcoming beta test. To sign up, visit the official Dragon Empires Web site.

Dragon Empires is set in a medieval fantasy world filled with warring clans striving to expand their territory. The game emphasizes player vs. player and clan vs. clan combat. The combat in the game is in real time, and it involves both weapons and magic spells.

We've posted some new screenshots from the game in the gallery above. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
