Bandai Namco is releasing a big update for Dragon Ball FighterZ this week on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The patch is scheduled to roll out tomorrow, May 9, and introduces two new features to the Dragon Ball fighting game, along with an assortment of gameplay improvements. [Update: The patch is now live on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.]

Most notably, the update adds a new type of competition called the FighterZ Cup. These will be held monthly and have players battling to earn points for their respective Z-Union. Additionally, the update introduces Party Battle. This mode allows three players to team up and fight "fearsome bosses." Bandai Namco says it will share additional details about each new feature "soon."

On top of the aforementioned modes, the update makes some balance adjustments to a handful of characters. Krillin will now always throw a rock for his Z Assist unless players are inputting left when he appears on the screen, and the duration of the Z Assist's hit stun has been increased. Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta's "On a Scale of One to Ten, I'll Give You a Three" attack has been tweaked to make it easier to grab an opponent, while the recovery frame of Beerus's down-medium attack has been reduced. Several prominent characters like Adult Gohan and Android 16 also receive some nerfs.

Finally, this week's update addresses a long list of bugs. These are primarily either character-specific or situational, but among the changes, developer Arc System Works has fixed an issue that would result in the players' character losing their ability to move properly after using a Z Reflect against certain attacks, such as Android 16's Hell Flash. The developer has also addressed a number of issues in Training Mode. You can find the full patch notes for the update on Bandai Namco's website.

Bandai Namco recently unveiled two more DLC characters for Dragon Ball FighterZ: Fused Zamasu and Super Saiyan Blue Vegito. The latter has yet to be formally announced, but fans have already gotten a chance to see him in action after Bandai Namco Taiwan prematurely shared Vegito's character trailer on its Facebook page. The publisher still hasn't shared pricing or release details for the new DLC characters yet, but the previous pair of add-on fighters, Bardock and Broly, could be purchased individually for $5.
