Dragon Ball has long been the go-to anime for anyone looking to try out some Japanese animation. It's not hard to see why, as the franchise combines fun storytelling with lovable characters and planet-shaking battles that have become the gold standard for other anime series in the action genre. For Black Friday 2023, you can score some big discounts on various Dragon Ball series and movies.

For Dragon Ball Z fans, the Kai Blu-rays are very good updates of the TV series. This release cleans up the original animation quite nicely, is mostly uncensored, and even goes the extra mile with fresh English dubs that are more faithful to the source material. There aren't too many bonus features on the Kai collections, but when you've got dozens of Dragon Ball Z episodes to watch from these collections, you'll still have plenty of content that'll keep your eyeballs glued to your TV.

For something more classic, you can check out multiple movie collections. Don't worry about the continuity and just enjoy seeing Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo get caught up in adventures across the cosmos. These box sets typically have four movies each, so you can sit down for a night of Dragon Ball classics like Cooler's Revenge, Bojack Unbound, and Wrath of the Dragon. The nice thing about these films is that not only do they condense the Dragon Ball formula so it's friendlier on your spare time, but they also have consistently excellent animation to admire. Not a bad combo overall!

A few of the more modern films are also on sale for Black Friday. Don't miss out on Resurrection F, the movie that features the return of Frieza, and Dragon Ball Super's incarnation of Broly, packing in a reality-shattering fight between the legendary Super-Saiyan and an all-powerful Gogeta. For more anime, you can grab a few Blu-rays of My Hero Academia, a series that was inspired by Dragon Ball but puts its own unique spin on the genre.
