While DA:I is probably a great game in many ways, I'm more happy about Shadow of Mordor winning prizes. I don't know if it's, because I'm bunrt out from playing DA:O so much recently (as part of clearing my backlog), but without a Shadow of a (Mordor) doubt, killing orcs sounds much more interesting than killing dragons, especially if the combat in DA: I is anything like in DA: O.

It wasn't a fantastic year, and it was mostly Nintendo and a few key titles preventing this year from being absolutely terrible. Sad Nintendo didn't get much attention. These DICE awards aren't on my watch list anyway.

Not one nomination for Bayonetta 2? I can't take this seriously.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Then perhaps the DICE awards shouldn't take you seriously?

Although, seriously, I understand what you mean and I think that award shows aren't a good mesaure of quality or anything. The most surprising thing for me was that DA: I won Goty, yet Shadow of Mordor won a whole 8 other prizes and not "weak" prizes either.

Hmm its curious how Dragon Age isnt even nominated in any other categories other than RPGs and GOTY. More than the sum of its parts I guess.

To me this was a pretty unremarkable year, aside from DivinityOS, Alien and Wasteland 2 disappointed me, The Evil Within was good until half when it became RE4 all over again, and DAI was way worse than what I thought in all fronts, surprisingly even. Then Mordor was good but most of its core gameplay has been milked to death by AC. The AAA group is barely worth playing at all in my opinion.

There is Bravely Default but im not a JRPG fan :P

I'm pretty sure if many of the games coming 2015 would've released this year they could all be GOTY by far, MGSV, TW3, Kingdom Come, Torment ToN, Star Citizen, FFXV (TBA), perhaps even Batman AK.or the new Mass Effect, etc.

Not a bad year, but not good, its just...there.

I'll admit Destiny had one thing going for it and that would be the soundtrack. Any other award it got was undeserved.

2014 overall was very disappointing. Shadow of Mordor was good though. I just DLed Transistor the other night and I can see why it won the indie award.

LOL, reading the Award lists, and I wonder....
Where is Elite Dangerous for Best Sound.... it would have been the clear winner by a country mile. And how did Destiny beat Wolfenstein for best action game? That game is one of the best games I have ever played and I don't even like most FPS games.

This comes to show what a terrible year 2014 was for gaming. The industry has reached a peak and is on the way down, only the true fans of gaming are the ones who will remain supportive I think. This however may be a good thing, now developers may be able to focus on more complex games who appeal to an older and more mature audience.

Destiny won a little more than it should have (especially Action Game of the year), but all in all, these were the right choices.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Yeah, Action Game should have gone to Wolfenstein. There should have been no doubt.

Sound Design should have gone to Elite: Dangerous. Probably the best sound design in any game ever.

Those awards are total bull. Destiny didn't even deserve to be in more than half of those nominations not to speak of it even winning some. Nominated for Outstanding Innovation in Gaming, are you freaking joking?!?!?! If this is innovation then gaming is doomed for sure.

DAI deserved to win, it was better than every other game in this list in my opinion. That being said, I still didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would have. Shadow of Mordor was plain boring, it had such dull gameplay, world, story and enemies. 2014 didn't have much to offer anyway. However, this year has a lot and I can't wait to play a lot of the games.

Not a great list. I'm disappointed and surprised Alien Isolation not only didn't win, but wasn't even nominated for best sound design (some of the voice work could have been slightly better, but still, overall it was the best I think). Also, Shadow of Mordor... Come on. I mean, for story, or for many of those, really? Hm. That's not all that's wrong with it. I'm fine with Dragon Age winning, as I really enjoyed that game and is certainly in my top five, but it wasn't my favorite.

Some fairly comical results in these "awards". Terrible nominations, and in some cases, even worse winners. Good for some laughs at least. Destiny, LoTR, and Dragon Age smeared everywhere.

It is nice that both Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS won awards.
