[UPDATE] BioWare has now posted the first trailer for Jaws of Hakkon.

The original story is below.

Right on schedule, the first expansion for open-world role-playing game Dragon Age: Inquisition is now available for Xbox One. The content, titled "Jaws of Hakkon," can be purchased for $15.

The DLC is also expected to launch today for PC. A release for PlayStation 4 will presumably come later.

In Jaws of Hakkon, players will "discover the fate of the last Inquisitor and the powerful dragon he hunted."

Set in an overgrown wilderness populated by the Avvar hunter people, the content will see players exploring an "ancient Tevinter fortress that hides a dangerous secret."

Gamers can also expect to face off against new enemies, and amass new legendary armor and weapons. Jaws of Hakkon concludes with a battle against an "ancient god of war bent on destroying the world."

A trailer for Jaws of Hakkon is due to be released later today. We'll add that video to the story once it's released. Some screenshots leaked yesterday; see the full batch here.

Dragon Age: Inquisition was a contender for GameSpot's game of the year. Critic Kevin VanOrd wrote in his review that the BioWare project was "a wonderful game and a lengthy pilgrimage to a magical world with vital thematic ties to one we already know."

The game shipped in November 2014 for consoles and PC. Although an official sales number has not been announced, publisher Electronic Arts says the game is BioWare's most successful launch, in terms of units sold, in the developer's history.

I'm probably just missing something really obvious, but how do I access this DLC in the game? I thought it would show up in the War Room but I didn't see anything on the map to access this.

I hope this content is fairly long for that price. Man I need to finish this game.

<< LINK REMOVED >> That all depends on how you treat it. There was some fellow in the comments saying it wasn't worth it and he got halfway through the content in a few hours. Personally, I believe that if he was in fact able to do that, he wasn't engaging the content to begin with. Possibly speed running it. I'm about 14 hours in on the DLC, and I haven't seen everything in the new zone, or unlocked any of the new achievements which appear to be progress oriented. As a disclaimer, I am on nightmare difficulty and I do actually take the time to explore my surroundings and read every note and book I find.

Honestly though, you could say that about just about any game, DLC or not. The length of time you put into a game is directly related to your ability to engage its content. Before launch, the devs were saying that wanted this to be a game you could be in 20 hours or 200 hours. And as you can see from the chaps below, a full clear, true experience of the game takes that full 150-200 hours.

tl;dr, $15 may or may not be steep for this DLC. Depends on what you're willing to put into it.

<< LINK REMOVED >> You and me both. I'm over 100 hours in and I still haven't been to like 3 of the areas.

Looks really cool.

Meh, I'll just wait for the Withcer.

Avatar image for rasterror

Or you can play it while you're waiting. Trust me, this is possibly one of the greatest games I've ever played.

Avatar image for bigruss51

<< LINK REMOVED >> Just play it. Witcher might get more delays, those devs are really trying to bring everything they imagined into the game.

Avatar image for MICHAELKNIGHT2K

I can see why this game got so much praise after putting a few hours in myself I admit the story telling is really done nicely. later on down the line I may include this dlc. What I really want is for the devs to release some modding tools for those of us who have steam workshop.

Avatar image for adamdiran

<< LINK REMOVED >> That would require the game to be available on STEAM

Avatar image for Archangel3371

Looks awesome, can't wait to get it later this week.

Avatar image for rosen22

Pillars of Eternity this week. Dragonage you had me 3 months ago, some pricey dlc to play on my capped golden nug riding mage won't get me back.

Avatar image for Sindred

I'll play Bloodborne until this comes to PS4

Avatar image for 001011000101101

Looks pretty good though I'm getting slightly tired of fighting ancient gods in these kinds of RPGs.

Avatar image for bigruss51

<< LINK REMOVED >> Lol who else would you rather fight?

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> I'm not a writer but I seriously doubt it's a question of "god or nothing" when one has to come up with a villain.

Avatar image for playstationzone

This dlc already in game and Also stop buying dlc and that will go away its destroying gaming.

Avatar image for mogan

<< LINK REMOVED >> The game came out months ago, and it's huge. There is no reason to be upset over this DLC.

Well, other than the exclusivity deal.

Avatar image for palememories

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Yes, how dare they sell us a stripped-down game...with a complete and compelling story, enjoyable gameplay, and over 100 hours of content. I'm voting with my wallet! I refuse to buy this.

Until it comes to PS4 and I can buy it.

Avatar image for bob15x

<< LINK REMOVED >> no its not and if you want everyone to stop buying dlc, expect game prices to be over $100 you entitled little sh..

Avatar image for mjack70

Meh...looks like just another dragon hunt, that's drawn out.

Avatar image for cleevergreen

So I have Game of Thrones... AND Life is Strange... AND Dragon Age to play?? Let's do this!

Avatar image for ghost140

Yep I can smell that GOTY edition coming so glad I didn't let the hype get to me.

Avatar image for PyreofKoL

<< LINK REMOVED >> You should get the game regardless. It's marvelous.

Avatar image for ghost140

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> I probably will when I can get the game and all the DLC for $30.

Avatar image for hypgnosis

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Have fun waiting until 2017.

Avatar image for ghost140

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Not a big deal for me since I got a sizeable backlog to play through plus any future game between now and then that may catch my eye.

Avatar image for chippiez

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Well dont you just have it all figured out, saving all those big bucks like a big boy,

Avatar image for sargentpsgamer

Whew, not released on PS4. Saved me $15 bucks for now! EA must be angry they can't take this 15 dollars from me haha, oh well, their loss.

Avatar image for bbq_R0ADK1LL

<< LINK REMOVED >> I'm sure they'll let you pre-order something & take your money anyway.

Avatar image for sargentpsgamer

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> They might want to do it soon! They didn't take 60 bucks from me for their cops and robbers game either!

Avatar image for Onallion

Looks pretty damn cool.

While I'll agree that we're likely never to see the Bioware of old, Inquisition was certainly proof that hope is not lost. I'll pick up the DLC, regardless of length, because if I'm going to be a statistic, I'm going to be the statistic that supports Bioware standing up to their overlords and pursuing their creative freedoms.

Avatar image for bob15x

<< LINK REMOVED >> pillars of eternity should help with that

Avatar image for Goron24

<< LINK REMOVED >> So by giving into EA controlling Bioware and forcing them to pump out half hearted DLC you're supporting bioware standing up to their overlords? Uhm.. K.

Avatar image for herjolfr

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Hence why I started my comment with "We're likely to never see the Bioware of old."

Inquisition was a clear example that EA was willing to give Bioware the benefit of the doubt after the Mass Effect debacle. To withhold their money grabbing hands, so to speak. It wasn't perfect. Its no free dlc CD Projekt. Its no Shivering Isles expansion. But its a step in a more -tolerable- direction. You gotta take the good with the bad. By giving my money to Bioware and EA for even half hearted Dragon Age dlc, at least there's a shred of hope that it will be received with the thought that they did a great job and I'm willing to continue my support, and therefor future full length installments should follow a similar developer-publisher relationship.

Its a longshot, but I'm not an anti-dlc bitter cry baby looking to slam any extra paid content without first putting into context.
