Doom: The Dark Ages Announced, Coming 2025

The next entry in the iconic shooter series is officially on the way.

As part of the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft and id Software officially announced Doom: The Dark Ages. Developer id Software, the creator of the series, is leading development on the game. It's the first all-new entry in the series since 2020's Doom Eternal. It's coming in 2025.

A trailer showed the Doomslayer with slightly more medieval-looking spiked armor, using a variety of weapons to rip and tear his demonic opponents. Those included a sawblade that also acted as a shield, and a gun that appeared to use a human skull in its ammo chamber, and a medieval flail. Very metal. You'll even be able to board the Atlan, a huge mech that's able to take down behemoth-sized demons. This is said to be the Slayer's origin story, going from the last hope of a kingdom to the demon-nightmare that we know him to be.
