The new Doom is already a very good-looking game, and it's only going to look better soon. Bethesda has announced that a 4K update for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X is coming on March 29. [Update: The update is out now on both PS4 and Xbox One, Bethesda has announced.]

"Every blast of the BFG, every demon glory kill, and every chainsaw slice through a Mancubus can be experienced like never before on consoles," Bethesda said. A trailer for the 4K update has also been released; you can check it out in the embed above.

Now Playing: DOOM - 4K Update Trailer

Part of what makes Doom such a great experience is its commitment to running at 60FPS. It remains to be seen if this will be possible in 4K, and Bethesda hasn't commented on this. The PC version of Doom already had an advantage over the console editions, as the game can look and run just about as good as you want depending on your rig and setup.

Doom was released in 2016 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A Nintendo Switch version launched in November 2017, and it is not getting any form of the new update.
