Doctor Who Christmas Special Sneak Peek and Plot Details Revealed

Two mysterious doctors in one episode.

Doctor Who, as is now tradition, is getting a Christmas special this year. It's called The Return of Doctor Mysterio, and new plot details have been revealed.

The episode is set in New York, and centers around a masked superhero and some brain-swapping aliens. The cast stars Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds) and Charity Wakefield (Wolf Hall), while Matt Lucas (Alice in Wonderland, Little Britain) reprises his role as Nardole. Not forgetting Peter Capaldi as The Doctor, of course.

The special will be broadcast on BBC One on Christmas Day at 5.45pm GMT in the UK, or on BBC America at 9/8c the same day in the US. It will also air in Australia on ABC on December 25, though an exact time has not yet been confirmed.

The Return of Doctor Mysterio will be showrunner Steven Moffat's final Christmas special as executive producer of Doctor Who. Moffat is stepping down after the next season--due to air in Spring 2017--to be replaced by Chris Chibnall. Check out a new poster for the special below.
