If you've been holding out on a Nintendo Switch port for Divinity Original Sin II, then your wait is officially over. The phenomenal 2017 RPG is available on Switch right now, as announced during the September 2019 Nintendo Direct.

Back in 2017, we listed Divinity Original Sin II as one of the best games of the year. The game is also one of a handful of titles we've given a 10/10 to. Learning that the game can now be played on the go via Switch is a nice little surprise.

If you've already started playing Divinity Original Sin II on PC, never got around to finishing it, and now want to continue your save on Switch, then you're in luck. The RPG now supports cross-saves between Switch and Steam, so you can transfer your progress from one system to the other at any time.

In Divinity Original Sin II, you create your own character among an assortment of species and traditional RPG classes before going on a fantastical adventure alongside a band of memorable characters. The game's story is completely choice-driven, allowing you to shape events with your decisions and alter character relationships with your actions. You don't have to go it alone either, as Divinity Original Sin II supports up to four-player co-op where everyone in your group can interact with the changing world simultaneously.

In GameSpot's Divinity Original Sin II review, Brett Todd wrote, "From lonely farmhouses through pitched battles with gods in far-flung dimensions, Divinity Original Sin II is one of the most captivating role-playing games ever made in both its original and Definitive incarnations, with the latter proving that even the most complicated role-players can be ported successfully to gamepad-limited consoles. This immaculately conceived and emotion-wrought fantasy world, topped by brilliant tactical combat, make it one of the finest games of recent years, and it remains an instant classic in the pantheon of RPG greats."

That review has now been updated with fresh impressions of the Nintendo Switch version, which finds it a slight visual downgrade, but otherwise an excellent port of the game. That's no small feat, considering it's one of a handful of games to have received a 10/10 review from GameSpot.
