Disney's Cruella Gets Stylish First Poster Ahead Of Trailer

Emma Stone stars as the iconic Disney villain in the movie which releases on May 28.

The first poster for Cruella is here. The Disney movie stars Emma Stone as the 101 Dalmatians villain Cruella de Vil, and it releases on May 28.

The poster is a stylish image of Stone, looking suitably menacing. She's got Cruella's distinctive black-and-white hairstyle from both the 1956 animated movie of 101 Dalmatians and the 1996 live-action remake, which starred Glenn Close. But Stone is playing a much younger Cruella, and this will be a very different take on this iconic character. Check it out below:

The Cruella poster has been released ahead of the movie's trailer, which arrives February 17. The film is set in 1970s London, and focuses on Cruella's early life as both a struggling fashion designer and rising criminal boss. The movie also stars Emma Thompson, Paul Walter Hauser, Joel Fry, and Mark Strong. It's directed by Craig Gillespie (I Tonya, Fright Night).

In an interview with Collider, Strong hinted at what viewers can expect from the movie. "It's such a massive production," he said. "There are huge fashion and ballroom sequences in it, which are just so impressive. What the film does, which is brilliant, is try to throw a light on where the Cruella that we think we know has come from. It’s a development story, as you see Cruella grow into the Cruella de Vil that we know and love to hate."

Cruella is the latest live-action Disney movie, following last year's Mulan. Other upcoming live-action remakes and sequels to classic Disney properties include The Little Mermaid, The Lion King 2, Peter Pan & Wendy, and Pinocchio.
