Disney World's Star Wars Hotel Opening In 2022, New Details Revealed

All aboard, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will welcome passengers in 2022!

After teasing it for a couple of years now, we finally have some idea of when the upcoming Star Wars-themed hotel at Walt Disney World, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, will open. You'll be able to visit the immersive experience beginning in 2022.

Disney revealed the news for Star Wars Day, while also sharing the first look at the actual working lightsaber that's in development. No, you won't be able to cut down your enemies with it. However, it looks and sounds incredible and will be unveiled on the Galactic Starcruiser. What's less clear is if you'll actually be able to purchase one.

As for the hotel itself, it's unlike any other on Disney property--or practically any hotel on the planet. Galactic Starcruiser is a two-night immersive experience that essentially invites you to live in the world of Star Wars, 24-hours-a-day. Once you're in the hotel, there are no windows to the outside world, and even your transportation in and out of the property is themed--and filled with characters you can interact with.

"During your stay aboard this glamorous ship, you may interact with an eclectic group of characters both familiar and new, possibly including the starcruiser's strong and charismatic captain, a plucky ship's mechanic, and a galactic superstar who can captivate an entire room with the crook of one jewel-encrusted purple Twi'lek finger," a description from Disney reads.

The hotel will also feature "exquisite dining experiences," including the Crown of Corellia dining room, which you can see the concept art of above. "The enticing supper club's name is an homage to Corellia, the planet known galaxy-wide for its shipyards that gave us not only the Halcyon starcruiser, but also the Millennium Falcon," a description reads. "The dining room is a bright and welcoming hall that will offer breakfast and lunch to passengers before transitioning each evening into a lavish multi-course menu of both otherworldly and familiar origins."

Obviously, there's still far more to be revealed about Galactic Starcruiser over the next year. At least now, though, you have an idea of when you might be able to.
