Disney has announced a collaboration with IMAX that will see several Marvel movies presented in IMAX's Expanded Aspect Ratio format on Disney+ starting November 12. The 13 films are listed below, though it's worth singling out Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which will also be making its debut on the service on that day.

As home entertainment centers have increasingly been able to--for those willing to invest--parallel or come close to something like the theater experience, this news means staying home just got all the more enticing. This move makes use of footage that was already on hand from production intended for IMAX theatrical presentations, and makes them available for home viewing.

Here are the MCU movies certified as IMAX Enhanced coming on November 12.

  1. Ant-Man and the Wasp
  2. Avengers: Endgame
  3. Avengers: Infinity War
  4. Black Panther
  5. Black Widow
  6. Captain America: Civil War
  7. Captain Marvel
  8. Doctor Strange
  9. Iron Man
  10. Guardians of the Galaxy
  11. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
  12. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
  13. Thor: Ragnarok

According to Verge, Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame were shot entirely in the format, whereas Black Widow has 22 minutes of IMAX Expanded Aspect Ratio footage. You'll be able to tell in such films when that footage is playing because "the black bars will be smaller" above and below your image. There are also plans for this format to involve more features, including DTS surround sound.

Eternals, the most recent Marvel supero movie, took in $161.7 million worldwide over the weekend.
