Now it has no release date whatsoever.

This development doesn't signal the death of the movie, as a script has already been written by Black Panther and Crime Story writer Joe Robert Cole. Now, it's a matter of when Disney decides to revive the film, though there is no indication as of yet as to when that might be.

This news comes as little surprise, as Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently alluded to a delay for the film, which was at one time planned as part of the company's Phase 3.0 initiative. Since that announcement in October 2015, the Phase 3.0 release schedule has filled in with Spider-Man: Homecoming (July 2017) and the Ant-Man sequel (July 2018), while a new Indiana Jones movie from parent company Disney is also on the way for July 2019.

"Since we made our initial Phase 3.0 announcement, we added Spider-Man, which was a big joyous coup for us," Feige said. "We added Ant-Man and the Wasp, which was a big fun continuation of that story for us. Walt Disney Company has announced an Indiana Jones film for right around that same time."

Asked if the Inhumans film would be ditched altogether, Feige said, "No. It's a question of when."

The Inhumans were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in a 1965 issue of Fantastic Four. Led by hypersonically-voiced Black Bolt, their first self-titled comic line ran from 1975 to 1977. They have subsequently appeared in a variety of limited and ongoing series over the past four decades.
