Digimon Survive Delayed To 2021

The game was originally due out this year on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.

Game producer Kazumasa Habu has confirmed that the tactical RPG Digimon Survive now launches in 2021. An exact release date has not been revealed as of yet. However, the game is still slated to arrive on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The Digimon Games Twitter account shared a statement by the game producer. Habu said that "current world events" impacted the development timing of Digimon Survive, making it difficult for the team to hit its original 2020 release window.

"We originally planned to launch Digimon Survive in 2020 but current world events have shifted our development timing and we have made the difficult decision to push Digimon Survive's launch to 2021," Habu said. "We thank you all for your continued patience as we work to create a fun and engaging tactical RPG game along with a memorable story for Digimon fans. We will share some exciting updates for Digimon Survive in Spring 2021, so please stay tuned for more information."

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S launch on November 10 and November 12, respectively. It's unclear if Digimon Survive will launch on the next-gen consoles. However, Habu said that "exciting updates" about the game will arrive in Spring 2021.

Digimon Survive was revealed in July 2018, where GameSpot editor Jordan Ramèe called it one of his most anticipated games of 2019. Its 2019 release date was then pushed back to sometime this year.

The game is a tactical RPG that has Fire Emblem-like turn-based combat and visual novel elements where player-choices affect the game. Digimon Survive tells the story of four teens who find themselves inside the digital world, where they train, communicate with, and battle against Digital Monsters.
