Diego Luna has returned to the Star Wars franchise. After starring in Rogue One as Cassian Andor, he now has his own spin-off series coming to Disney+--and the first full trailer has arrived. The series will focus on Cassian's upbringing during wartime and him eventually becoming part of the Rebel Alliance. Lucasfilm announced the series back in November 2018, with Luna attached and Stephen Schiff (FX's The Americans) hired as showrunner. Schiff was later replaced by Rogue One co-writer Tony Gilroy as creator and showrunner in April 2020.

The series starts in the early years of the Galactic Empire, even showing an empty Republic room that we saw in the Star Wars prequels. Joining Luna will be Genevieve O'Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Fiona Shaw.

A second season of Andor has already been confirmed for Disney+, so don't expect this character's story to get wrapped up in Season 1. Interestingly, O'Reilly will be reprising her role in the series as Mon Mothma, a part she took over from Caroline Blakiston going all the way back to Revenge of the Sith, 17 years ago.

The series will hit the streaming service with a three-episode debut on September 21, while the rest of the episodes releasing weekly until November 23. With 12 episodes, it will be the longest first season of any Star Wars show on Disney+.
