Did Duke Do It?

A Brazilian medical student kills three; Police are saying Duke Nukem made him do it.

Reuters news service is reporting that a 24-year-old medical student in Sao Paulo, Brazil, opened fire on a crowd of people inside a movie theater on Thursday night, killing three and injuring an additional eight. Local police claim the opening level of 3DRealm's Duke Nukem 3D influenced the shooter, Mateus de Costa Meira.

"Police found three computers and hundreds of CD-ROM computer disks at Meira's apartment," claimed the Reuters article. "Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper said police suspected Meira followed the game step by step, including his choice of weapons and shooting position at the Sao Paulo theater."

The article goes on to say that Meira even went into the theater's restroom and fired a shot into one of the mirrors which, according to Sao Paulo police, mimics Duke Nukem's gameplay.

There was no mention made in the article as to whether or not one of the "hundreds" of disks found in Meira's apartment was actually a copy of Duke Nukem 3D, so this may be a case of cruel coincidence. The entire Reuters story is linked to the right for your reference.
