Diablo 2: Resurrected will release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC at an undetermined date this year, and you can be one of the first people to try out the game's Technical Alpha. This is how to play the Technical Alpha, which you'll want to do before it's too late.

How To Sign Up And Play

  • The first step to playing in the Diablo 2: Resurrected Technical Alpha is to opt in to the test via the game's website. Go to the main page and click the button in the middle, sign in with your Blizzard credentials, and you'll be all set. As of April 9, the button is still there.
  • If you were selected, Blizzard will send you an invitation. This seems to apply even though the Technical Alpha has begun already.
  • However, these invitations are being sent in waves, so if you don't get one right away, there is still a chance you'll get an invitation in a later wave.
  • The Technical Alpha is only available for PC players, but a future test will also include consoles. The first test runs until Monday, April 12 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET, which is just a day away, so play it while you can.

What's Included In The Technical Alpha?

The Diablo 2: Resurrected Technical Alpha is a single-player test that features Acts 1 and 2 from the game's story. Though cinematics are being updated for the final release, the original game's cinematics are included as placeholders for the time being. The test requires an online connection, though Blizzard said offline play (with periodic update checks) will be possible in the final game.

Seven classes are included in the full game, and three of them are playable in the Technical Alpha: Amazon, Barbarian, and Sorcerer. The others will be included in later tests, however. There is also no level cap, so you can go wild. However, you will hit a point in the story where you can no longer proceed, so don't feel like you have to level up as far as you can go.
