Devil May Cry adding Vergil expansion
Capcom's upcoming action game to add "Vergil's Downfall" DLC after launch; makes Dante's twin brother playable in his own chapter.
DMC: Devil May Cry does not ship until next year, but Capcom has already announced the game's first expansion. The publisher today revealed "Vergil's Downfall," a new chapter to the game that has players controlling Dante's twin brother Vergil.
The "Vergil's Downfall" DLC will tell Vergil's backstory with regards to the main campaign. Additionally, it will add new enemies that Vergil can take on using unique moves, weapons, and combos. In all, Capcom says the content will span "hours."
"Vergil's Downfall" will launch sometime after DMC: Devil May Cry ships early next year and will cost $9 on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. Players who preorder the game at GameStop in the United States or EB Games in Canada can pick up the content free.
DMC: Devil May Cry will follow a redesigned version of Dante, envisioning a younger version of the gun-toting, sword-wielding demon slayer in the modern world. Ninja Theory has said it wants to give the series a fresh start, with a scythe and axe added to his standard arsenal. The game is due out on January 15 in North America and Europe for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A PC version will follow.
