Devil May Cry 5 recently got a special edition release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, adding several graphical upgrades and a challenging new difficulty mode. The main attraction in Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition was the inclusion of Dante's twin brother Vergil, a playable character with his own unique offense and stylish special abilities.

If you're on older generation consoles or PC, you can now add Vergil to the regular edition of Devil May Cry 5. Capcom has released the anti-hero as standalone DLC that will cost you $5 on PC via Steam, Xbox One, and PS4. You can view the brief trailer of Vergil in action below.

Now Playing: Devil May Cry 5 – Vergil DLC Available Now Trailer (PC, PS4, XBox One)

Vergil is a completely different character to play as when compared to Dante, Nero, or V. He comes equipped with his trademark Yamato katana for precise combos, the Beowulf gauntlets and boots that can be charged up to deliver crushing blows, and the Mirage Edge sword that is perfect for crowd control. For long-range combat, Vergil can summon his Mirage Blades to strike opponents from a distance or create a shield around him that damages any enemies who get too close for comfort.

Vergil's more demonic abilities also reflect his colder personality. His Devil Trigger summons a doppelganger that mimics all his attacks and can be used to double down on combos, his Sin Devil Trigger amplifies his power while also healing him, and World of V allows Vergil to use his human form and Familiars to devastate any demons within range.

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition is still well worth looking at if you're in the market for an improved version of an already thrilling action game, thanks to ray tracing features, an optional 120 FPS mode, a new Turbo mode, and Legendary Dark Knight Mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

In our Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition review, critic Jean-Luc Seipke called the game the definitive version of an already excellent action experience.

"Vergil feels fantastic to play, and it's great getting to go through the original campaign with Legendary Dark Knight difficulty. The real winner, though, is the improvements enabled by next-gen consoles. The result is an experience that brings enough new to the table for returning fans while being the definitive Devil May Cry 5 experience for those looking to pick it up for the first time."
