Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's Breach Mode Spins Off As Its Own, Free-To-Play Game

A free VR Experience is also now available.

Over on Steam, Deus Ex fans will today find two new games--of sorts--to download for free.

The first of these is Deus Ex: Breach, a standalone version of Breach mode from last year's Mankind Divided. This is the same content as what you'll find in Mankind Divided; this merely serves as a way for it to be played without owning Mankind Divided (or without having to open it up).

Breach is available as a free-to-play game. As you play, you earn credits that can be used to purchase booster packs, which provide you with a random assortment of four items. Alternatively, you can spend real-world money to buy booster packs, as well as premium skins and weapons. Eidos Montreal insists that this is purely optional. However, our Mankind Divided review noted that--while the mode is enjoyable--it was off-putting for these booster packs to impact gameplay, given that online leaderboards are a key element.

More details on Breach are shared in this FAQ.

In addition to Breach, something called the Mankind Divided VR Experience has also been released on Steam. This free download lets you explore four of the game's environments with an Oculus Rift or Vive VR headset. You can also check out a "selection" of 3D models of characters from Mankind Divided.

You can download both new titles through the Steam links below.
