Detective Pikachu Returns Launches In October

The gruff detective of Ryme City is back.

Pokemon fans will be going back to Prime City with their favorite detective, as today's Nintendo Direct presentation unveiled Detective Pikachu Returns, which will launch October 6.

The debut trailer showed the diminutive detective and his partner Tim Goodman starting his day with his favorite coffee, as multiple areas of Ryme City and the Pokemon inhabiting them flash across the screen. The mayor of Prime City declares a "Pokemon Friendship Week," while Pikachu and Tim are confronted by the legendary Pokemon, Mewtwo.

Now Playing: Detective Pikachu Returns Official Trailer

Multiple different types of Pokemon are shown living in Ryme City during the trailer, with Inteleon tending to some flowers in a garden, Politoed and two Poliwags singing on stage, and a Slowpoke in a fedora spraying water in the streets. Detective Pikachu will interact with some Pokemon in order to solve cases as well, with one scene showing him trying to ride a Growlithe.

The original Detective Pikachu first launched in March 2018, with a theatrical adaptation of the game releasing in theaters in May 2019.

Detective Pikachu Returns launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch October 6.
