The IDSA is hosting its third annual Nite to Unite for Kids charity event on Tuesday, October 17 at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. The fundraiser annually brings together several hundred industry executives to help raise funds for various charities aimed at aiding America's youth. The proceeds from this year's event will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club to underwrite a new delinquency prevention program.

This year, the event is being co-chaired by Byron Cook, vice chairman of Midway Games, Tom Dusenberry, CEO of Hasbro Interactive/Games.com, and Kazuo Hirai, president and COO of Sony Computer Entertainment America. Executives representing Acclaim Entertainment, Capcom Entertainment, Crave Interactive, Eidos Interactive, Electronic Arts, Disney Interactive, Havas Interactive, Infogrames, Interplay Productions, Konami of America, Mattel Interactive, Microsoft Corporation, Namco, Nintendo of America, Sega of America, The 3DO Company, THQ, Ubi Soft Entertainment, and ZD Game Group will also be attending the event. Joel Hochberg, president of Rare, will be this year's honoree.

"The annual Nite to Unite for Kids event provides an excellent opportunity for the IDSA and its members to come together for a common cause - our kids," said Douglas Lowenstein, president of IDSA. "Each year we have broader involvement among industry leaders and more excitement building up to the event."

Last year's event raised more than US$640,000 for the Child Welfare League of America's "Protecting America's Children" campaign.
