The destruction-focused FlatOut racing game announced last month now has a new name.

Publisher Strategy First has announced the game--which is being billed as the most ambitious title in the history of the franchise--is now officially called FlatOut 4: Total Insanity.

Strategy First also announced that Doctor Who: Legacy developer Tiny Rebel games is now working on Total Insanity alongside the previously announced Kylotonn Entertainment (Truck Racer, Motorcycle Club).

Tiny Rebel Games creative director Lee Cummings said his hope for Total Insanity is to deliver a game that respects those that came before it--and there were indeed quite a few--but also "goes beyond it in outrageousness, richness of environment and design, and community involvement."

Total Insanity is to be developed out in the open, with its developers giving fans an "unsurpassed degree of visibility" to the design and development process. Fans can also directly shape the game, as developers are now letting fans vote for what track they want to see featured in the game.

The game is scheduled to launch in 2016 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC
