Destiny 2's Servers Are Offline For Beyond Light - Start Preloading
The lights are going off earlier than usual for the transition to Destiny 2's next big expansion.
Destiny 2 is about to undergo maintenance ahead of the launch of the Beyond Light expansion, with the servers have shut down a little earlier than you might expect. Bungie previously announced that the game were set to go offline on Monday, November 9, and come back online with Beyond Light after the usual weekly reset on Tuesday, November 10.
At this point, if you've got anything left to do in Destiny 2, unfortunately, it's too late. Bungie says Destiny 2 will be back online around 9 AM PT / noon ET Tuesday.
In the meantime, you can preload Beyond Light now so it's ready to go on Tuesday.
Pre-load is now available across all platforms. Players will be unable to log in to Destiny 2 until 9 AM PST (1700 UTC) on Nov 10 when Update 3.0.0.1 is available.

Stay tuned for further maintenance updates.
Bungie readied players for Beyond Light with a small in-game live event that took place on Monday night. Players headed into a mission in the Last City, where they watched the Traveler glow and eventually start to heal itself. But the event ended with a splash screen that suggested the Darkness has finally come back to Destiny. The message read: "Server offline. The Light cannot save you. Seek us out on Europa."
There's a lot that's leaving Destiny 2 in Beyond Light, including the destinations Titan, Io, Mercury, Mars, and the Leviathan, and all their associated content and raids. They're making room for the new destination of Europa, and Bungie has suggested that the content might come back into the game in the future--but how and in what form, we don't yet know.
