Gear up with new Exotics for a weekend of the Iron Banner with a visit to Xur in Destiny 2.

Lord Saladin has returned to the Tower in Destiny 2 this week, bringing the first Iron Banner event of the Season of the Hunt and the Beyond Light expansion. As always, that gives you a great excuse to visit Xur, everyone's favorite snake-faced Exotics vendor, while he's in the solar system for the weekend. Head to The Tower, to the Hangar area, to find Xur this week. For his weapon, Xur is offering Trinity Ghoul. Hunters can pick up the Gwisin Vest chest armor; for Titans, there's the Armamentarium chest armor; and for Warlocks, Xur has the Vesper of Radius chest armor.

Xur Location

Make your way to the left side of the Tower when you spawn in, then look for Xur at the north end of the Hangar.

Spawn in at the Tower transmat zone and head to the left, down the stairs, toward the Hangar. When you reach the Hangar area, hang a left and walk past the faction areas, including Dead Orbit, to find a staircase up to a catwalk. Xur is at the top of the stairs, looking out over the edge of the area at the Last City below.

Xur Exotic Items

Xur's weapon for this week is Trinity Ghoul, a fun bow that gets pretty phenomenal if you can find its Exotic Catalyst. Trinity Ghoul fires an arrow that causes chain lightning to leap from enemies when you land a precision kill, making it great for clearing out lots of enemies at once. If you're not a fan of his other options, Xur also sells an Exotic engram that will decrypt into an Exotic you don't already own. He also has the new Xenology Quest, which rewards an Exotic Cipher you can use to purchase Exotics from either Xur or the Tower's Monument to Lost Lights. The quest requires you to either complete Strikes or win matches in Gambit and the Crucible.

  • Exotic Engram -- 97 legendary shards
  • Trinity Ghoul -- 29 legendary shards
  • Gwisin Vest -- 23 legendary shards
  • Armamentarium -- 23 legendary shards
  • Vesper of Radius -- 23 legendary shards
  • Xenology quest -- free

Precision kills send chain lightning from your enemies, making Trinity Ghoul an effective and hilarious means of crowd control.

Last season, Bungie released an Exotic Catalyst for Trinity Ghoul, turning the Exotic into a lightning-spreading monster. The bow fires an arrow that splits in the air, allowing you to hit multiple targets when shooting from the hip, but which tightens up for precision shots when aiming down sights. Enemies you kill with precision hits with the bow send lightning spreading to their teammates, making Trinity Ghoul a great weapon for any PvE scenario in particular. With the catalyst, chain lightning is triggered from any Trinity Ghoul kill, making it extremely effective for dealing with groups of enemies. It's also just a lot of fun to electrocute your foes en masse.

Gwisin Vest (Hunter)

Gwisin Vest extends your Spectral Blades Super whenever you earn kills and then return to invisibility, allowing you to be a stealthy assassin for longer.

If you're going to use the Spectral Blades Super, especially in the Crucible, you should invest in Gwisin Vest. The chest armor gives you Super energy for every Spectral Blades kill you rack up before you return to stealth mode while the Super is active--which means you can extend its duration pretty significantly if you flip yourself invisible after ripping through enemies. That can give you a lot of extra opportunities to sneak up and slice through other Guardians.

What's better than one grenade? Two grenades.

Titans get a pretty straightforward benefit from Armamentarium: the chest armor gives you another grenade charge. That's it. That's the Exotic. This version of the Exotic is a pretty solid one--it has massive Resilience and high total stats in general.

With Vesper of Radius, you can turn your Rifts into an offensive tool more than a defensive one. Whenever you cast a Rift while wearing the Exotic, you'll release an Arc shockwave that zaps enemies around you. You also get Rift energy back faster when you're surrounded by enemies, so using Rifts for last-stand scenarios is to your benefit.
