Now Playing: Destiny 2 - 4 Things You Should Know Before Starting

If Destiny 2 is your first Destiny game, or you simply didn't play much of the original, one thing you may be unaware of is how certain parts of the game run on a schedule. Certain things reset daily, but more significant are those that do so on a weekly basis as part of the aptly named weekly reset.

A number of activities--and their corresponding rewards--are tied to the weekly reset. In other words, once you complete them, you'll have to wait for the following week in order to complete them again for a new set of rewards. Among other things, that includes the Nightfall, a high-level Strike that offers some of the consistently best loot you can get your hands on, and the Raid. This means you always want to be sure those activities are finished before the weekly reset occurs.

The reset happens at a fixed time, not a week after you complete any given activity. The daily "Ritual" reset occurs at 2 AM PT / 5 AM ET / 10 AM BST / 7 PM AEST during Daylight Saving Time (March to November) and an hour earlier when we're not in DST (November to March). The weekly reset happens at that same time each Tuesday.

Each Tuesday's reset therefore serves as the deadline to finish the Nightfall, Meditations, and the Raid. It's also when certain Milestones are refreshed, including weekly Challenges, the Flashpoint, Clan XP, and Crucible's Call to Arms, as well as Clan XP rewards. Additionally, the Eververse inventory of items that can be purchased with Bright Dust changes then.

Whether or not you're new to Destiny or Destiny 2, there are some basic things you should know (and habits from the first game you might need to break). Those include not waiting to decrypt Engrams and saving some of your Upgrade Points. You can check out more in our Destiny 2 beginner's guide or our roundup of Destiny 2 guides, tips, and tricks.

This is a perfect example of how easily sheeple are brain-washed. Destiny is a crappy, generic FPS, BUT, they shamelessly promoted the crap out of it and now sheeple love this game because they have been told to.

With all this media noise, one would think George Soros is behind this crappy game. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to watch a bunch of illiterate thugs throw a ball around, because the TV told me I have to watch it.

@visforvictory: Well I happen to enjoy the first Destiny game on PS4. It may not be the perfect FPS game but I still enjoy it and I'm just waiting for Destiny 2 to be release on PC next month.

We need more hourly updates on this game. Sure will be glad when the hype train dies down.

@Triton: If you remember the Destiny 1 arti-tisements, they usually die down after 2 weeks......at least til Acti-blizzard brings out Destiny 3. To quote Acti-blizzard's CEO, ''Games should not be fun, they should be addictive.''

Thanks for the info. I played the first game back when it initially came out so it's good to brush up on things so I can best plan my time spent with the game.

@darthrevenx: Seriously, get over it. The game just came out and is wildely popular. New things are discovered and people who only go on the site once a day may miss something. It doesn't hurt anybody and they aren't ignoring any news just to post destiny articles. Let them do their jobs... once people stop visiting the articles there won't be so many.

@darthrevenx: "Gamespot, I want you to only make articles on games I play and enjoy. I know the game hasn't even been out a week yet and that millions play the game, but come on, please stop trying to drive traffic to your website, it's annoying...thank you!"

@fig56: not what i said.....for a games site GS barely covers anything that isn't one of the major publisher's major IP's that's the problem, they barely mention anything else, when they do it's never about why something is cool, it's why we should play it despite many issues the game has....

it's 6 months of nonstop advertising for a game that came out 6 months ago, spoiling all the surprises, making it be something you wish would go away, this obsessive coverage kills all hype for a game, Zelda BOTW my hype died a week in the onslaught, overhype any interest I might have had died 2 days in just cus it was a MP only game and got sick of seeing the articles for it a week in long before the game even came out...I barely looked at any of em either....

i honestly don't know what all is coming down the line thanks to oversaturation of other crap......beyond Wolfenstein 2.....everything else is just mush......it's cus i was bombarded with trash info that I forgot real info.....this isn't good, it'll hurt a lot of other games in the long run cus the way my brain works is I just throw away garbage info when it becomes too much and that always includes a few nuggets I might have liked.....

but please, by all means keep misunderstanding what my meaning is.....I'm saying what I mean here....and I mean what I say.....

@darthrevenx: Keep on clicking on them and they'll keep on making them. Or you just move along like I do with many of their articles.
