Destiny 2 Jotunn Exotic Guide: How To Get The Forge Fusion Rifle

You'll need to grind a bit for one of The Black Armory's coolest Exotic guns.

Destiny 2 has moved on from its Year Two content with the release of the Shadowkeep expansion and this year's new seasons, bringing lots of new guns to find and farm throughout the solar system. But even though past expansions are, well, in the past, are still some great weapons you'll want to earn from previous seasons if you don't already have them. Among the best comes from all the way back in The Black Armory expansion: Jotunn, a fusion rifle that's more like a rocket launcher.

Originally, earning Jotunn required unlocking and clearing the Bergusia forge as part of the Mystery Box Exotic weapon quest to earn the Izanagi's Burden sniper rifle, which remains extremely useful in activities such as the Garden of Salvation raid. But while Izanagi's is great for boss fights, you'll get a lot more utility out of Jotunn, which is great in just about every activity.

Now Playing: Destiny 2 New Exotic Jotunn In Iron Banner Gameplay

The good news is that if you didn't get Jotunn in Year Two, you can unlock it a lot easier in the post-Shadowkeep era. But there are certain things you have to do to get the gun at all. Here's everything you need to know to earn Jotunn and start bringing some Nordic pain to other players.

Head Into The Forges

Shadowkeep marks a big change to how the forges work. In the Black Armory expansion as it was first released, you originally had to complete a number of steps to unlock each of the forges. That's no longer the case--instead, the four forges are available from the EDZ map in the Director, with a different available each day.

Get The Jotunn Quest

Next, you'll need to head to the Tower Annex and talk with Ada-1, the Black Armory vendor. Pick up the quest called A Giant's Might. Once you have that, you'll need to complete two steps: Kill Vex with fusion rifles, and complete 10 weapon frames from Ada-1. To purchase those frames, you'll need to complete Ada's bounties.

Calibrate Your Frames

To complete the Giant's Might quest, you'll need to complete weapon frames. To get them, you'll need to get Modulus Reports and Ballistics Logs to buy frames from Ada, which you can earn from bounties. Follow the steps on each of the frame to calibrate it, which will eventually bring you back to Ada-1 to complete it. When that happens, the frame will tell you to head to ignite one of the first three Forges--Volundr, Gofannon, or Izanami--to complete the frame. You can also use the Bergusia forge to finish any of the frames.

Ignite The Forge

The thing about Bergusia Forge is that you can complete any weapon frame there, regardless of what forge the frame tells you to use. In the past, if you wanted to make the Hammerhead machine gun, you'd need to ignite Volundr Forge; to get the Tartara Gaze sniper, you'd be stuck igniting Gofannon. Any frame will work at Bergusia, though.

With your completed frame in your inventory, head to Bergusia and ignite the forge. In most cases, you'll simply complete your frame and get the weapon you were working on, whatever that might be. Keep hammering away at frames until you complete the quest. Do so and Jotunn will be yours, at last.
