Now Playing: GS News Update: Destiny 2's First DLC Leaks On Xbox Store

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.

Update: Not that there was much reason to doubt an official store listing, but you can brush away any suspicions you had about Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris. Bungie has confirmed it is real, with marketing director Eric Osborne writing on Twitter, "Curse of Osiris is not a leak. It's real! :)" Unfortunately, we still don't have any more details, including a release date, but at least we know for sure what to expect from the game's first DLC drop. The original story follows.

Following a report suggesting that Destiny 2's first DLC takes players to Mercury, those details have now been corroborated by a listing on the Xbox Store. The first Destiny 2 DLC pack, called Curse of Osiris, will indeed take players to that planet for an Osiris-centric story.

"Destiny 2 Expansion I: Curse of Osiris continues your Guardian's journey with all-new story missions and adventures set in a new destination, Mercury," the official description reads. "Journey through time and space to learn the secrets of Osiris, avert a dark future, and rebuild the ties between the legendary Warlock and his greatest student--Ikora Rey."

Alongside this, a feature list provides a vague sense of what to expect in terms of content. Players will get to visit something called the Infinite Forest, which is alluded to in the base game, and of course get new gear and Crucible maps. There's no mention of a Raid, although the list is not comprehensive Here's what's included:

  • Explore Mercury and its mysterious "Infinite Forest"
  • New story missions and adventures
  • New themed weapons, armor, and gear to earn
  • New cooperative activities
  • New competitive multiplayer arenas
  • And more

No release date for Curse of Osiris is included in the listing, so we'll have to continue waiting on an official announcement from Bungie and Activision for that. According to the original Kotaku report about the DLC, it will include a new social space based on the Lighthouse from the first Destiny. For more on the newly released game, check out our Destiny 2 everything you need to know roundup.

Aw.. there are a lot of crying babies in these boards. I hope mommy gives you all some hugs and kisses tonight.

DLC is no secret and I will pay $15 for the added content ALL day. Sorry you broke losers can't afford to game. Bye Felicia, go enjoy all the other 1st person shooters, like CoD and BF. Neither of those charge for DLCS.. Oh wait...

Blah blah blah blah microtransactions. Blah blah shaders blah blah blah non-cosmetic microtransactions. Blah blah blah DLC leaked. Honestly modern "gaming" for the most part can go **** itself.

As long as the content is plenty and good as opposed to small updates that make the game worse (like destiny 1) i will be more than happy to pay for it. Making games ain't cheap. So far Destiny 2 is very good and stands atop the current best console FPS this gen IMO :)

Release date September 6, 2017. Talks of DLC September 8,2017. Putting blame on a company is easy, But a face is better.

Here is the CEO of Bungie at this current date of posting.
Twitter - https://goo.gl/t9oLJp
LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/pparsons

You want to blame someone? Blame this above person. You should also blame the people who pre-order DLC season pass's as that just lets these companies keep doing this rip off run around.

These developers aren't even hiding their greed any more. I love it.

Can't wait for Shadow of Mordor 2 to do the same thing, they already bragged about their microtransactions and will just love to rub it into the fools that bought the game. Then expect them to announce the DLC they already made but cut from the game to resell to them suckers later on. Love the greed, we keep buying their games cause they know we are idiots.

They know announcing this will make them look bad and they don't even care, cause any publicity is good publicity.

"We know you just shelled out money for our game, and instead of including all the content we have available, here's a look at what we cut out and are going to sit on until when we decide we want more of your money."

**** off Bungie, we found out your tactics the first time around and if people are still stupid enough to fall into it this time around then they deserve to have their money taken

@mentalrevolt: You're an idiot. Developers can't wait until a game releases in order to start working on more content. That would be stupid. They can't build a DLC expansion in three months.

@rlg5150: they most assuredly can, and do build a DLC expac in three months. Not a Taken King kind of DLC, but a new level or three, new items and quests? IF the tools pipeline is solid, that's pretty easily doable.

I am so sick of the Destiny articles especially when we see clearly cut content and microtransactions designed to ripoff gamers (I would say "us" but I refuse to buy this). Seriously take a stand with your wallet against this garbage. It won't change until you do.

@edwardnygma: What "clearly cut content" are you talking about? And the microtransactions are so unimportant that I don't see how you think they are ripping anyone off.

@rlg5150: if you're blind to see it it's not our fault. let me try to open your eyes. did you forget Destiny 1 season pass? really? that content is 100% cut content from the base game. also, The Taken King dlc for Destiny 1 was hinted in E3, etc videos before the game's launch, and yet it wasn't included in the game at launch and was released later as $40 DLC. TTK is the number 1 most scam DLC in gaming history. microtransactions are things that could be included in the game. it's still rip off

@cora007: Don't like it? Don't buy it. That simple. Stop looking for handouts. Games are a "luxury", not a bare necessity or entitlement. As such, profit is easily-justified.

Enough with this dlc if you know what the dlc are going to consist of before a game is even released. Then just take the extra time to put the Damn things in the game nobody want to buy the game have a these dlc come out pay for them then a year or two late.a game of the year edition will come out with all dlc and updates that's a slap in the face like saying the origanal release we bought isn't the complete version make a game update it with patchs and movie on to another one

@wvryanrucker304: That's stupid. You can't launch an online only co-op game without post launch support already planned. The DLC is NOT done, or it would have been in the game. Separate teams work on post launch content compared to the main game.

@rlg5150: I'm not talking about this game specifically just all games in general it all started a few years ago games started makeing dlc a norm I understand online games need them but what about all those signal player games and speaking of signal player games if Destiny 2 is anything like the first one then it is playable offline your just being forced to be online all the time whice is another thing that need to stop with games

@rlg5150: "The DLC is NOT done, or it would have been in the game."

You sound very sure of this. Here's how it works: cutting completed content from the game to sell as DLC is an obvious way of making you pay $80 for a game ($60 for base game + $20 for the DLC) instead of $60. You don't seriously think these game publishers are beyond this sort of customer gouging, do you? There have already been MANY games released with Day 1 paid DLC.

As long as Bungie continues to supply Destiny 2 with decent amount of Fresh and new content for Destiny 2 to keep players from leaving is all that matters. They did it horribly with Destiny 1 so hopefully destiny 2 will be better when it comes to new content.

@jako998: Yeah continues to support it by releasing content obviously ready yet cut from the main game to keep people "interested". That's not support kid, that's called shady AF.

@chiefwiggum16: Nah, they'll have had all this planned from the start. Activision brought in multiple studios to work on Destiny content. I imagine this DLC has been in development by a largely different team for a while. Same with the second expansion.

@Mogan: It just people hating on a big game, its not new, the game has millions of players showing that the people who say cut content don't support the game are the minority,

If this DLC has a good amount of content it will have my support because its extra content.

@johnnyboy787: extra content like Destiny 1 season pass and The Taken King that was hinted in E3, etc videos before the game was launched? nice joke. it's idiots like you, Mogan, rlg5150, etc(and unfortunately you idiots are a lot) that Activision, etc can do bs like Destiny 1 season pass and TTK scam DLC's. content that was removed from the game was sold as $40 DLC. number 1 most scam DLC in gaming history

This game and the attention the media is giving it are nothing short of a joke. One of the industry's most anti-consumer products and it's featured in half of Gamespot's articles. Now the first DLC leaks, only days after release, just in time to deliver the punch line.

Seriously though, this is pathetic. I know I can just ignore the articles and not click on them, but I sure as hell can't ignore Gamespot's choices. And this is why Youtubers get more respect, just in case you're wondering. Because they give more respect.
Excuse me now I'm going to puke some Destiny 2.

@rlg5150: "Don't be such a hipster" said the blind fanboy. content behind paywall = season pass and the rest DLC of Destiny 1= anti-consumer. without season pass you're screwed. that's anti-consumer. it's idiots like you, Mogan, johnyboy787, etc that Activision can do anti-consumer bs like in Destiny 1, and they will do the same for Destiny 2 since it worked for Destiny 1
