Despite Being Delayed, the New Sherlock Holmes Game Is Out Now on PC

The PC version was supposed to release alongside consoles this summer.

Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter was delayed to summer 2016 a week before its June 10 release. However, it seems to have ignored the delay and launched on Steam anyway--it came out on all three platforms today in Europe.

The delay was announced for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in the game's story trailer last week and was reinforced with a press release sent today. We've contacted publisher Bigben Interactive and have asked for comment on why it has released on PC and not consoles.

Now Playing: Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter - Story Trailer

Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter was delayed to June 10 in April. Its original release date was May 27.

The new Sherlock Holmes game features a semi-open world with areas that players can explore freely; however, if they want to move to an entirely different area, they'll have to hit a loading screen. It also has tailing sequences similar to Assassin's Creed.

Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter received a score of 6 in GameSpot's review, which said, "It's a fantastic detective game; it's just a shame that it's bogged down by myriad technical issues, and a mediocre attempt to inject some action into proceedings."

@dirthurts: Don't want to promote anything here, but the matter of fact is that many people bought games after they "tried" it. Now, paradoxically, people will be so cautious not to waste money that they will not buy any game especially when DEMO politics is halted. PS YouTube gameplay videos are not enough.

@Pelezinho777: With Steam offering refunds now (and several others) that excuse falls flat.

Game sales have went up since Denuvo, so it's not argument that piracy has outweighed "demo" use by users.

@Pelezinho777: Why on Earth would they do that? They can't afford to make more money or something?

Meh. I'm more interesting in watching the new season of Sherlock TV series. It's taking so long to come.

@JoePiervincenti: Unfortunately not, because Gamespot is bogged down by myriad technical issues.

@se7en1989: I don't know but some people said the one that was free recently (GWG or PS+ I don't recall) was surprisingly good.
