A post on the Battlefield 1942 Web site reveals that a demo for Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of WWII will be released on Friday, August 8. The demo will feature one of eight new multiplayer missions, a map set in the Dutch town of Hellendoorn. Near the town is a German V2 rocket launch site, and the countdown is on for a missile attack against a bridge crucial to the Allied advance into Germany.

The demo will let players try out 10 of the 16 new vehicles in the expansion pack, including the experimental German rocket pack and the jet fighters, motorcycles, and amphibious assault vehicles available to both the Allied and Axis sides. There are also new small-arms weapons, such as silenced SMGs and assault rifles.

Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of WWII is due out next month. For more details, check out our previous coverage.
