Del Toro in talks with 'big company' to revive InSane

Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro says mystery studio "really responded to the game."

Guillermo del Toro is in talks with a "big company" to revive his action game InSane, which the now-bankrupt publisher THQ cut loose last year.

“We are in talks with a very, very big company," del Toro told the Toronto Sun. "I can’t say who, but it’s one of the big ones. They really responded to the game; they responded to what we were trying."

In November, the Pan's Labyrinth and Pacific Rim director revealed he had shopped the project around to numerous publishers, noting the game was back on track.

In October, del Toro was asked which studio would be a "dream developer" for InSane, and he responded with the Half-Life and Left 4 Dead company Valve. He said he is a "big fan" of the outfit.

Concerning how far along in development InSane is, del Toro said at the time of its cancellation at THQ in August, the game was in "good shape." The world, the creatures, the levels, and the story were all in place, he said.

SWEEET. I never gave up hope on this game. Hope it still comes out some day, don't care how long it takes.

I'd like to see Grasshopper Studios (Suda 51's company) work with Del Toro. Similar to Del Toro, they have a dark, highly surrealistic style.

Hope it doesn't tank like Clive Barker's games, Jericho. Though I enjoyed it a little.

I remember hearing about this game a while back and then very little until now. I am very intrigued to see if a well respected film director can pull of a good game.

Would love it to be CD Projekt RED, can't see it but would be worthy! Short of that BioWare and Valve, we can but hope! Outside bet the company that told the best story in 2012 Telltale! Publisher will be well established though

InSane seems promising, hadn't had a good horror game in years (no, I don't like Amnesia). I bought Realms of the Haunting on GoG's sale and is looking forward to play it. Before that I played Clive Barker's Undying (and am still playing it).

Absolutely nothing is known about this game and no gameplay has been shown so far, so my anticipation hasn't shown any kind of activity yet.

When he's talking about "a very big company", if he means EA, UbiSoft or Activision then my interest in this game I didn't even have yet is now gone even further.

His next "news" announcement should better cover some facts and contain .. well .. news.

@bloody-hell There are very few people I would offer benefit of the doubt, del Toro is in there though, he can tell a story and has an eye for visuals just needs the right collaboration!
