Now Playing: Death Stranding Release Date Trailer

Game director Hideo Kojima might be done with the Metal Gear series, but that doesn't mean he's done with video games. After parting ways with Konami in 2015, Kojima opened a new studio with the help of Sony. The company's first project is the PS4 exclusive Death Stranding, a mysterious but highly anticipated game we knew very little about--until now.

With the release of an extensive new trailer earlier this summer, we finally have more information on Death Stranding, including a close look at its gameplay and, most importantly, a release date. Death Stranding will release November 8, 2019 on PS4, and there are multiple pre-order bonuses for securing your copy early. Plus, there are several editions to choose from, including a $200 Collector's edition that includes a handful of physical items.

During San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Kojima officially revealed box art and a special-edition steelbook for Death Stranding, both of which depict Sam, the main character played by Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus. The steelbook comes with the Special and Collector's editions of the game, the latter of which just came back into stock. You can check out the official art below.

Now that we finally know more about the game and its star-studded cast, you might be ready to pre-order, especially if you're interested in any of the special editions. Read on for everything you need to know to pre-order Death Stranding right now.

  • Gold Speed Skeleton (boosts Sam's movement speed when equipped)
