Deadpool Movie Sequel Aiming to Start Shooting Early Next Year
Plus, the action movie's script is nearing completion.
A Deadpool sequel is on the way, and now we know when it may start shooting. Producer Simon Kinberg told Collider that the aim is for production to begin in early 2017.
"We hope to shoot the movie sometime in the beginning of next year," he said (via EW).
Asked if Deadpool 2, or whatever it ends up being titled, will again shoot in Vancouver, Kinberg said, "Don't know."
He also explained that the Deadpool 2 script is nearing completion from writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who are returning from the first film. "We hope to have a script very soon," he said.
After the huge box office performance of this year's Deadpool, it came as little surprise when Fox announced a sequel had officially gotten the green light.
As of yet, there is no word on the follow-up's story, but you can probably expect it to be a tongue-in-cheek, fourth wall-breaking, over-the-top action movie like the first one.
Fox has not announced a release date or even a release window for the Deadpool sequel. Director Tim Miller says some dates have been floated already, but assured in a previous interview that Fox isn't pushing him to get the movie out there before he thinks it's ready.
"None of the times that have been under discussion have made me go, 'Oh no, you're going to make me do something horrible just to meet that [release date],'" he explained. "They want it to be great, and they're giving us the time to make it great."
The Deadpool sequel will again star Ryan Reynolds--who is getting a bigger payday for the movie--but other casting announcements have not yet been made.
