Actor Ryan Reynolds is celebrating the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike with some special Deadpool 3 news. Posting on social media, Reynolds suggested Dogpool will make an appearance in Deadpool 3 and that there might even be a plushy Dogpool tool themed around the unfortunate-looking pooch.

"Dig Dogpool save the day? Not a chance in gremlin hell. But she IS currently causing the Disney plushy merch department nightmares," Reynolds said. He also confirmed that Dogpool is "coming with the movie" in Summer 2024.

That last bit might be more notable than it looks. Deadpool 3 was previously delayed to May 2024, and some wondered if the movie might get pushed further due to the Hollywood strikes.

The official Marvel lore for Dogpool states that scientists were seeking to create an eternal youth product and experimented on a dog. They believed their experiments killed the dog and so they discarded its body. But a local circus performer discovered the dog and found it was not dead but instead had powers. Deadpool later comes by and recruits him to join Deadpool Corps.

Deadpool 3 was in production when the Hollywood strikes began, and images and other details leaked from the set. Filming paused in July and is now seemingly on the road to resuming. Deadpool 3 is a team-up movie of sorts featuring Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

In addition to Reynolds and Jackman, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic are coming back to reprise their characters, Vanessa and Colossus, respectively. In terms of new additions to the cast, Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession) are joining Deadpool 3 in new roles. Taylor Swift might be in the movie, too.

Shawn Levy, who directed Reynolds in the movie Free Guy, is directing Deadpool 3. Series writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are coming back to write the script with Zeb Wells (Robot Chicken).

As for the SAG-AFTRA strike, the labor union and Hollywood studios have reached a tentative agreement to end the strike, and it should become official soon. The writers' union, WGA, ended its own strike in September.
