Deadpool 3 has been in the works since at least January, as Ryan Reynolds confirmed the status of the movie. Well, the movie has made an important step in the right direction as it just landed two writers.

Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin, two of the writers from the hit animated series Bob's Burgers, will be writing the script for the next Deadpool movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Early in 2020, Reynolds revealed that the movie was in some form of production on Live With Kelly And Ryan: "Yeah, we're working on it right now with the whole team," Reynolds said. "We're over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It's kind of crazy. So yeah, we're working on it."

However, this was pre-pandemic and pre-production shutdowns, which were rampant during the spring, summer, and fall of the year. There is no information as of this writing for a planned release date nor do we know anyone else who is attached. It is unclear if either Tim Miller (Deadpool) or David Leitch (Deadpool 2) will return to direct the third movie.

Over the summer, the character's creator Rob Liefeld explained that "nothing is guaranteed" when it comes to the future of the franchise, especially now that Disney owns the rights to the character. However, during an earnings call in February 2019, Disney chief Bob Iger shed some light on more mature content at the house of mouse. "We do believe there is room for the Fox properties to exist without significant Disney influence over the nature of the content, meaning that we see that there is certainly popularity amongst Marvel fans for the R-rated Deadpool films, as a for instance," Iger said. "We're going to continue in that business, and there might be room for more of that."

The Deadpool franchise isn't the only R-rated film from Marvel people loved. In 2017, Fox release Logan, a mature movie about Wolverine, which starred Hugh Jackman, which grossed over $600 million worldwide. Additionally, Deadpool was a smashing success at the box office. 2016's Deadpool made $782 million worldwide, while the 2018 sequel brought in $785 million. It's safe to say that a third film would fare well.
