In an interview with Collider, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick confirmed that Deadpool 2 will feature Colossus and Negasonic, played by Stefan Kapicic and Brianna Hildebrand respectively. "I think we can say. Yeah, they’ll be in the sequel," Reese said. "Yeah, they’ll make at least an appearance," Wernick added.

In November it was revealed that Negasonic Teenage Warhead's appearance in the film was due to a "character swap" with Marvel. Although Fox own the movie rights to character, the filmmakers wanted to change her powers from the fairly minimal ones in the comic books. In exchange for permission to do this, Fox gave Marvel the film rights to Ego the Living Planet, who will now appear in this summer's Guardian of the Galaxy Vol.2.

Deadpool 2 is set to be directed by John Wick's David Leitch, who replaced the first film's director, Tim Miller. Last month Miller spoke about his decision to leave the production, stating he was resistant to making it a bigger film than the original. "I didn't want to make some stylized movie that was three times the budget," he said. "I wanted to make the same kind of movie that we made before because I think that's the right movie to make for the character."

Deadpool 2 is yet to have a confirmed release date, but Fox currently have two slots allocated for upcoming X-Men movies, in 2018 and 2019. One is thought to be Deadpool 2, the other possibly New Mutants.
