Deadpool 2: Ryan Reynolds Comments on Director Drama

"Tim's brilliant and nobody worked harder on Deadpool than he did."

In October, Deadpool director Tim Miller dropped out of the sequel. According to a report, "creative differences" between Miller and star Ryan Reynolds were cited as part of the reason why Miller left the project. A second report claimed that after the massive success of the first film, Reynolds was given more creative control for the sequel--and this reportedly led to clashes with Miller.

Now, Reynolds himself has weighed in on the matter. He told GQ, "All I can really add is that I'm sad to see him off the film. Tim's brilliant and nobody worked harder on Deadpool than he did."

That's all Reynolds had to say specifically about Miller's exit from Deadpool 2. In a different part of the interview, however, Reynolds talked about the "vaguely scary fights" between himself, writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, and Miller that occurred during the fist movie's post-production.

"Making the movie was very, very difficult. It was the most passionate group of individuals I've ever worked with in my life," Reynolds said. "And for whatever reason, that mercurial crazy burgoo of people is what made this thing work so well, not just because I had this vision and I saw it this way and it had to be this way. It worked because we all had that feeling. But there were vaguely scary fights in the post-production process that escalated quickly. Luckily, everybody's grown up and at the end of the day enjoys and loves each other."

"I know when I need to exert control, and I know when I need to let go of it. I'm not gonna go and sit with Tim Miller and say, 'The visual effects of Deadpool need to be done this way.' The man is a visual-effects wizard. But there are character and tone things that I know really well," Reynolds added. "And I've also been with this thing the longest out of anybody, aside from the guys that wrote the comics. Eleven years I've been trying to get this Sisyphus rock up the hill, and it kept rolling back on top of me. So I'm gonna be all the f*** over it from the moment it starts to the moment it finishes."

John Wick director David Leitch is now reportedly the frontrunner to direct Deadpool 2, though "several other directors" are also apparently being considered.

Released in February, the R-rated Deadpool was a smash hit. It made $782 million at the worldwide box office against a budget of $58 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

In June 2016, Deadpool 2's script was nearing completion from Reese and Wernick, who are returning from the first film. The movie was at one time expected to start shooting in early 2017; a recent report claimed that production won't begin until after January.

In other news about Deadpool, production company Fox is apparently already planning a third movie that will feature the X-Force. For more on Deadpool 2, check out GameSpot's feature, "7 Things We Want to See in the Deadpool Sequel."

Too bad Miller left but at least the blueprints are there for another person to take a shot at the Deadpool universe.

Picture me excited for both Deadpool 2 and the Sonic the hedgehog movie.

$500 bucks this movie won't do well at least ratings wise. It will probably do ok financially because people will go see the second version of any movie if the first was such a success. Then number three will do the worst of all. Please don't talk smack about my opinion just wait till the movie arrives and if I was wrong then talk smack to me!

@Edwinhernandez: That's not really an opinion but a prediction. It's not true of all franchises to say the least.

Oh, for the love of...why does everyone have to put their mark on everything? Let the writers and director do their job. The actors just need to focus on acting.

@petey_olivarez: doesn't count M. Night ShyamaLan is the worst director in the world. Everything he's ever made is complete trash. He had one lucky run which is The 6th Sense. Honestly it probably only worked because Bruce Willis was in it. I now stay far away from whatever he directs!

@gamingdevil800: Vanessa was always part of deadpool universe, she is the central character on his first solo story arc , if they make the second she is going to have to die to keep loyal to the storyline.

I guess Ryan Reynolds wants to be the Screenwriter, Producer and Editor as well as the star of Deadpool 2. I hope it works out...
