Dead Rising Movie Release Date Revealed

Dead Rising: Watchtower, the upcoming movie based on Capcom's zombie game series and said to be "Indiana Jones with zombies," will be released on March 27, 2015. The film will launch on that date through Sony's Crackle streaming service, as well as other streaming sites, DVD, and TV.

Like the game, Watchtower takes place during a zombie outbreak. After a government-produced vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, four survivors seek out the root of the epidemic while fighting to stay alive against hordes of undead.

The four leads are:

• Jesse Metcalfe -- (John Tucker Must Die, Desperate Housewives, Dallas)
• Meghan Ory -- (Once Upon A Time, Intelligence)
• Virginia Madsen -- (Sideways, Candyman, The Number 23)
• Dennis Haysbert -- (24, The Unit)

Comedian Rob Riggle will also appear in the movie, playing the role of Frank West.

Watchtower was directed by Leprechaun: Origins director Zach Lipovsky. It is produced by Godzilla and Warcraft studio Legendary Entertainment's TV and Digital Media division.
