Dead Rising 2 delayed until September

Capcom's sequel to zombie-massacre action game is pushed back; due in NA on Sept. 28, Japan Sept. 30, and EU Oct. 1.

In February, Capcom announced that the sequel to its hit zombie-apocalypse action game Dead Rising would arrive on August 31. However, much like the lumbering undead masses players must fight in both games, Dead Rising 2's release date has fallen behind. The Japanese publisher announced today that the new installment in its franchise will now arrive in North America on September 28, in Japan on September 30, and in Europe on October 1.

While the original Dead Rising was Xbox 360-exclusive, its follow-up is being released for Microsoft's console, the PlayStation 3, and the PC. However, Capcom has announced that the game will have 360-specific downloadable content in the form of Dead Rising 2: Case Zero. Set for release shortly before the full game, Case Zero serves as a bridge between the first Dead Rising and its sequel, introducing players to the new protagonist and setting as well as explaining its link to the original.

Xbox 360 owners will also be able to download the upcoming live-action film based on the series, Dead Rising: Zombrex. With original Dead Rising game director Keiji Inafune at the helm, Zombrex follows two Japanese brothers attempting to escape a quarantined area overrun by zombies. Capcom just announced that the film will soon be available in North America and Europe.
