Production has officially begun on Wonder Woman 1984, the much-anticipated sequel to 2017's DC blockbuster Wonder Woman. The movie's title was confirmed last week, along with the surprise return of Steve Trevor, the character played by Chris Pine in the first film. Now star Gal Gadot has revealed the first image of herself in her costume, which you can see below.

Gadot posted the image on Twitter with the caption "she's back." The image is largely as you'd expect--there's no changes to the costume--but it does have a distinctive gold background, which is very different to the more muted colors of the 1940s-set Wonder Women. Check it out below.

Now Playing: DC: Wonder Woman 1984 Movie's Costume Revealed In New Image - GameSpot Universe News Update

Wonder Woman 1984 hits theaters on November 1, 2019. Alongside Gadot and Pine, it stars Kristin Wiig as the villainous Cheetah, plus Game of Thrones and Narcos actor Pedro Pascal in an as-yet-unspecified role. The movie is directed by Patty Jenkins, who helmed the first film. Her deal is reportedly in the $7-9 million range, which has set a record for a female director.

We've known for some time that the film will have an '80s-setting. Last year, it was reported that the movie will "send Diana against the forces of Soviet Union in the closing days of the Cold War." In addition, Jenkins has teased that the movie will be a "funny and a great love story [with] a couple new unbelievable characters who I'm so excited about, who are very different than were in the last movie."

In related news, the first images from DC's upcoming Aquaman were revealed last week. The pictures showed many of the main characters, including Black Manta (David Kane), Vulko (Willem Dafoe), Atlanna (Nicole Kidman), Mera (Amber Heard), and, of course, Jason Momoa as Aquaman himself. The film hits theaters this November.
