DC's Justice League Snyder Cut Gets A New Title
The new version of DC's 2017 superhero team-up movie is set to hit HBO Max in 2021.
There's a lot of new DC movies on the way over the next couple of years, including The Batman, The Suicide Squad, and Black Adam. But one of the most anticipated titles isn't actually a new film--it's director Zack Snyder's new version of the 2017 release Justice League. The movie was featured heavily at the virtual event DC FanDome last month, and at this weekend's second FanDome, another look at the film was revealed, plus a potential new title.
The movie featured in a behind-the-scenes look at Leavesden, the studio complex owned by Warner Bros. outside of London, where many DC movies are shot. The video included footage of Snyder filming scenes that didn't appear in the 2017 cut of Justice League, but that will appear in the upcoming new version. These include scenes of Victor Stone (aka Cyborg) on a football field and Wonder Woman looking at a mysterious mural, both of which have appeared in the previous trailers. Check them out at GamesRadar.
As for title, a new poster appeared during FanDome that revealed the title to be Justice League: The Director's Cut. While the movie has been informally known as the Snyder Cut by fans who have petitioned for its release for years, it was titled Zack Snyder's Justice League when it was first announced in May.
Justice League was originally released in November 2017. Snyder left the movie while it was still being made, and was replaced by Joss Whedon, who oversaw reshoots and post-production. The result was a critical and commercial failure, and fans have campaigned ever since to see Snyder's original vision. At August's FanDome, it was revealed that the new version will run for four hours, and will be divided into four separate chapters. It will hit HBO Max sometime in 2021.
